Fort Worth Rodeo Contestants Planning for Championship Saturday

By Susan Kanode for the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

FORT WORTH, Texas (February 4, 2026) โ€” The road to Championship Saturday became clearer as the first group of finalists emerged from Semi-Finals A at the Fort Worth Livestock Show & Rodeo ProRodeo Tournament, held inside Dickies Arena.

Advancing competitors secured their spots after standout performances across multiple events, setting the stage for one of professional rodeoโ€™s most anticipated championship nights.

Power Couple Delivers Under Pressure

One of rodeoโ€™s most recognizable power couples, Shelby Boisjoli-Meged and Haven Meged, made the most of their Semi-Finals appearance.

Boisjoli-Meged, the 2023 world champion breakaway roper, was first to compete. The Calgary, Alberta, native stopped the clock in 2.2 seconds, winning the event outright and adding $4,000 to her Fort Worth earnings.

Moments later, her husband took center stage. Haven Meged, the 2019 world champion tie-down roper, clocked an 8.6-second run, tying for the win with Blane Cox of Stephenville, Texas. Each earned $3,500 and advanced to the Championship Finals.

With the couple expecting their first child, this marks their final rodeo together until midsummerโ€”making a Fort Worth buckle a meaningful addition to their family story.

Pinkstonโ€™s Doubleheader Day Pays Off

Barrel racer Acey Pinkston delivered one of the most impressive efforts of the week. Earlier in the evening, she competed in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Finals at Will Rogers Coliseum before racing across the grounds to Dickies Arena for FWSSR competition.

Riding Streakinfrenchbullet, known as Bullet, Pinkston first advanced out of the Wild Card round, then claimed victory in Semi-Finals A with a 16.30-second run. The performance earned her $4,000 and a place in Championship Saturday.

Pinkston, a former NIRA champion for Southwest Texas Junior College, now competes for Weatherford College and continues to build momentum on the professional stage.

Welsh Electrifies Dickies Arena

Bull rider Hayden Welsh closed the night with a crowd-stopping ride. The Gillette, Wyoming, rookie scored 90.5 points aboard Door Dash from Cowtown Rodeo.

As the only qualified ride of the night, Welsh claimed the full $10,000 purse, bringing his total Fort Worth earnings to $16,000. His performance secured a direct berth in the Championship Round, while remaining bull riding finalists will be determined during Semi-Finals B.

Championship Picture Takes Shape

Additional event winners also advanced from Semi-Finals A, narrowing the field as the tournament approaches its conclusion. Semi-Finals B begin Friday night at 7:30 p.m., finalizing the remaining qualifiers for Championship Saturday.
