Schalla’s Success Continues at Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
By Susan Kanode for the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
FORT WORTH, Texas (Jan. 28, 2026) — Fans attending the sixth performance of the Fort Worth Livestock Show & Rodeo (FWSSR) ProRodeo Tournament were treated to fast-paced second-round action, highlighted by standout performances in bareback and bull riding inside Dickies Arena.

Schalla Leads Bracket 3 in Bareback Riding
Wacey Schalla of Arapaho, Oklahoma, continues to build momentum as one of rodeo’s rising all-around talents. Schalla’s versatility has been evident since high school, where he captured National High School Rodeo Association titles in both bareback riding and bull riding in 2023.
The following year, Schalla repeated that dual success at Clarendon College, earning the same two event titles in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association while beginning his career in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA).
After narrowly missing dual qualifications previously, Schalla broke through last month by qualifying for the National Finals Rodeo in both bareback riding and bull riding, finishing as the reserve all-around champion.
On Wednesday night in Fort Worth, Schalla posted the highest bareback score of the performance, an 87-point ride aboard Marie Leveau from United Pro Rodeo. The effort earned $2,500, giving him $4,700 in Bracket 3 earnings, first place overall, and a return trip to the Semi-Finals.
Schalla will continue his push for a double advancement with two more rounds of bull riding still ahead in the next bracket.
Bull Riding Delivers Big Rides
Bull riding closed the night with four qualified rides and plenty of momentum heading into the Semi-Finals.
Atop the leaderboard is Stran Smith of Bear Creek, South Dakota. After being the only rider to convert in round one—earning $7,400—Smith followed up with an 85-point ride on Debo from United Pro Rodeo in round two.
Smith more than doubled his season earnings during his Fort Worth run. Entering the rodeo with $7,926, he has already pocketed $9,725 in Dickies Arena and will advance to the Semi-Finals with confidence.
Lane Vaughan of Klamath Falls, Oregon, matched Smith’s 85-point score aboard Ray Ban from United Pro Rodeo, tying for the round win and also securing a Semi-Finals berth.
