It’s Great to be Showing this Fall!

The Southwest Showdown was held at the beautiful Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas. A full house came to enjoy the show and some good early Fall weather.

On Wednesday, the Super Series Group featured a Texas Super Series Performance Hunter Stake. Peter Pletcher piloted Lynn Walsh’s Hollywood Park to the top spot. Trident, owned by Emily Campbell and ridden by Brooke Brombach, took home the red ribbon and Southern Charm owned by Katherine Arbelle and ridden by Ellasrose Lewis was third.

On Thursday Peter also took the blue in the Super Series Green Stake on Reba owned by Shadyside Farm. Second went to Side Hustle owned by La Primara Hacienda and ridden Courtney Lenkart. Courtney also took the yellow ribbon on Captain America owned by Lori Mathews.

Friday the $5000 USHJA National Hunter Derby was held with 28 horses on display in the big Mega ring. After the two round event Isabel Coleman and Van D’ Ark took home the blue ribbon. MTM Personal Assistant owned by MTM Farm and ridden by Carlee McCutcheon was second and Fenway and Lilly Goldstein captured third.

In the “Big House” Indoor jumper ring the $5000 Jumper class was the featured event that saw Dollar Cash and Trapp O’Neal owned by TKO Partnership take the blue. Second went to Mr DJ owned by Royal Sport Horses and ridden by Alrashid Alwaleed and third went to Carlee McCutcheon on her MTM Unexpected.

Saturday saw the $15,000 Jumper Classic take center stage. 25 entries took a shot on Tommy Brawley’s course and Martien Van Der Hoeven came away in the top spot with Morris Horta. Second was San Chano and Jacqueline Ward and third went to MTM Fortunate and Carlee McCutcheon.

The big event in the Mega Ring was The Texas Pony Championships, which saw a format similar to the USEF Pony Finals. The Small Texas Pony Champion honors went to Sunbeam and Charlotte Coltier and reserve Texas Champion was Falling Moon Huckleberry and Liliya Obaid.

The Large Texas Pony Champion went home with California Dreaming owned by Millenium Farm and ridden by McKayla Brombach. Reserve went to Caleche and Lola Head.

Coming out on top in the Medium Pony Texas Championship and Grand Texas Champion went to Smallwood Mystic and Carolyn Coltier owned by Ticket To Ride. Reserve in the Texas Mediums stayed in the family and went home with Astro Boy owned by GC Ponies, LLC and ridden by Charlotte Coltier.

The $1500 USHJA Pony Derby was held, and 17 ponies tackled the two-round event. Carolyn Colter and Smallwood Mystic again came home with the blue.

Sunday saw center stage go to the Children’s ponies in the Mega ring. The Small/Medium Texas Children’s Pony Champion and Grand Texas Children’s Champion went to Editor’s Note and Liliya Obaid. Liliya also captured reserve on Dust Bunny.

Texas Large Children Pony Champion went to Wynnbrook April Frost and Ivy Bonds and the reserve tri-color ribbon went home with SKS Kiss Me and Jillian Sims.
