February 6, 2012 Off By Roberta Johnston

Thousands of horse lovers from around the region are getting ready for the 20th annual Rocky Mountain Horse Expo, four-days of horse related family entertainment, education, exhibits, art and demonstrations scheduled for March 8-11 at the National Western complex in Denver. The expo, which is produced by the Colorado Horse Council, is the largest horse industry trade show in the Western United States.

Jane Savoie – Guest Clinician Speaker

Who else but Jane Savoie wears so many hats in the horse industry? Her visibility as a dressage competitor, coach, instructor, clinician, speaker, and author makes her truly unique.

Jane Savoie is one of the most recognized names in dressage, and for a good reason. Her accomplishments and the breadth of her influence are impressive. She has been a member of the United States Equestrian Team and has competed for the US in Canada, Holland, Belgium, France, and Germany. She was the reserve rider for the Bronze medal winning Olympic dressage team in Barcelona, Spain. She has been long-listed by the USET with several horses and has won nine Horse of the Year awards and three National Freestyle Championships.

Ms. Savoie is as well known as a coach, writer and speaker as she is for her competitive Jane Savoie on horse accomplishments. She was the 1996 and 2004 Olympic dressage coach for the Canadian 3-Day Event Team in Atlanta and Athens. She also coached several top dressage and 3-Day Event riders in their preparations for the 2000 Olympics and while in Sydney she helped rider Susan Blinks secure a bronze medal for the US dressage team.

Ms. Savoie has written five books that have been published both in the US and abroad. Her best-selling sports psychology book , “That Winning

Feeling!” is in its ninth printing and has been translated into several languages. Her dressage training books, “Cross-Train Your Horse” and “More

Cross-Training,” are rapidly becoming popular reference books for riders and trainers in all disciplines. Her fourth book, “It’s Not Just About The Ribbons,” is a sequel to “That Winning Feeling!” This book is an essential addition to your library if you need help with negative emotions like overcoming rider fear, impatience, or lack of self-confidence.

Jane has also produced several dressage training DVD’s including:

. The Half-Halt Demystified – Parts 1 & 2

. Riding In Your Mind’s Eye – Parts 1 & 2

. Train With Jane – Parts 1 & 2

Her new motivational audio CD program called “The Riders’ Inside Edge,” will help you bust through limiting beliefs, set goals, stay motivated, overcome rider fear, and anchor positive emotions.

She is a frequent contributor to many of the leading horse magazines including Equus and Dressage Today and travels extensively to do motivational lectures.

Ms. Savoie has also collaborated on several books apart from her own titles including:

. Understanding Nervousness in Horse and Rider, by Moyra Williams, UK

. Riding For the Rest of Us, by Jessica Jahiel

. Living with Horse Power, by Rebekah Witter

. Winning With Horsepower, by RebekahWitter

. Along The Way, from Golden Hills Press

. Insights From Experts, by Kathy Connolly

. Competitive Training for the Small Dog, by Barbara Cecil and Gerianne Darnell Of Women and Horses, by GaWaNi Pony Boy

Ms. Savoie is a highly motivational and visible speaker for people who want help demolishing mental monsters such as overcoming rider fear and anxiety. She often gathers audiences of up to 7,000 people and has been featured in over 40 states as well as Mexico, Canada and Bermuda.

Jane and her husband Rhett are shown here at their home in Randolph Center, Vermont. According to Jane, it’s been Rhett’s support and encouragement over the years that has allowed her to pursue both her riding and her writing goals. Although not a rider himself, Rhett is a familiar sight at dressage competitions. Jane says, “Over the years Rhett has developed quite an eye for the subtleties of dressage training. When I finish a test, I’m rarely able to tell if it was any good or not. So, I always look to Rhett as I leave the arena. I can count on his reaction to my ride to be accurate.”

Come to the Horse Expo and let Jane Savoie teach you her secrets on how to conquer your mental monsters like overcoming rider fear, anxiety, insecurity, anger, impatience, frustration or self-doubt.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity.

What is Dressage

Dressage is a early European competitive equestrian sport. This style is used as an expression of training, to develop standardized progressive training methods. Dressage uses the horses willingness and its natural athletic ability to maximize the riding performance. This method is referred to as “Horse Ballet,” and helps the rider by not having to aid it in minimal tasks, concluding in a smooth and relaxing ride.
