WANTED: Exceptional people willing to help change lives!

SIRE, Houston’s Therapeutic Equestrian Centers, is looking for volunteers want to make a difference in the lives of some very special riders, and if they like horses that is a plus. SIRE provides therapeutic horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities to children and adults with disabilities at three locations in the greater Houston area: Hockley/Magnolia, Spring and Ft. Bend County at Sienna Stables.

Lauren Diggan, who volunteers at Sienna Stables several times a week says “Seeing the pure joy on the children’s faces and watching them strengthen their bodies has been an overwhelming experience. I would recommend it to everyone. The volunteers and people associated with SIRE are a wonderful, fun group of people!”

New Volunteer Orientation for the Fall semester will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 6:00-8:00 pm with the Hands-On Training on Saturday, August 7, 8:00 am-1:00 pm at each SIRE location. SIRE volunteers should attend both the orientation and training and must be at least 14 years old. No previous horse experience is required.

By volunteering at SIRE, you can learn about people with disabilities, horses and make new friends. You’ll gain tremendous satisfaction from watching the riders enjoy contact with horses physically, mentally and emotionally. You will “give back to your community” while having fun!
