Equine enthusiasts take note

For those looking for their next reining, cow horse, cutting or all-around performance prospect, look no further than Tarleton State University’s equine sciences program ninth annual Texan Performance Horse Sale on May 29. Horses in the sale will feature some of the top bloodlines in the business.

The sale will begin at 1 p.m., with a demonstration before that will begin at 9 a.m. The sale will take place at the university’s equine center, which is located on College Farm Road. To get to the facility, turn west off of Highway 281 onto East Lingleville Road. Turn right onto College Farm Road and the Equine Center is on the right.

Tarleton, Texas A&M University and the Stock Horse of Texas (SHOT) have consigned horses in the sale as well as a few select consignments from individuals.

Tarleton consignments include horses sired by Hockorys Last Rio and Sonitalena Rey Jay.

Hickorys Last Rio was unshown due to injury. This stallion is by Doc’s Hickory and out of Lena Ladybird Rio (Doc O’Lena) – producer of earners of more than $101,000.

Sonitalena Rey Jay is a money earner in the National Cutting Horses Association, American Cutting Horse Association and SHOT. Sired by Sonitalena and out of TAMU Jamie Rey (Eyes of Texas).

Consignments from Texas A&M include horses sired by Millenium CD, Dundee Colonel and Chocolate Chic Olena. Other consignments include horses with the same bloodlines as Shining Spark, Matt Dillon Dunn It and Dox Playboy, just to name a few.
