NRBC Ancillary Class High-Point Winners to Take Home Gist Silversmith Buckles

The National Reining Breeders Classic, held annually at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, is known as the million dollar show. But there’s more than titles and money to be won at the prestigious event – the prizes and awards are bountiful. So bountiful, in fact, few participants at any level of leave empty-handed.

In 2008, thanks in part to the sponsorship with Gist Silversmiths, the NRBC began to award beautiful, specially engraved Gist Silversmith trophy buckles to the high-point earners in many of the National Reining Horse Association Ancillary classes. The buckles were a huge hit with exhibitors, and five more buckles will be awarded in 2010 – bringing the total to 21!

“We are very excited that the Gist Silversmiths buckle program will be expanded in 2010. This is just one way for the NRBC to show its appreciation of the people who show in the NRHA classes, and are such an important part of the NRBC,” noted NRBC Secretary-Treasurer Cheryl Magoteaux.

Each class Champion will receive one of the buckles. If two classes are held, the high point earner from those two classes will win the buckle. If there is only one class, then the winner of that class will receive the buckle.

The point system for deciding the winner of the buckles in which a class is run twice will be the same as with the NRBC Double Time Awards. First place in each class will earn ten points, a second place finish will garner nine, eight points will be awarded to third, and so on.

The National Reining Breeders Classic is the most successful stallion incentive program in reining history. In just twelve years, the NRBC has grown to include upwards of 275 subscribed stallions and in 2009, there were over 2,800 enrolled foals. Annually, the payout at the National Reining Breeders Classic exceeds $1.25 million. For information on the NRBC, visit the web site at www.nrbc.com or call 580-759-3939.
