Amy Bailey of Sparta, Tennessee, is the 2009 National Reined Cow Horse Association Non Pro Two Rein World Champion. She piloted her horse, SS Scat Cat to the win with a 442. The NRCHA World Championship Show Presented by John Deere is taking place during the Fort Dodge Animal Health Celebration of Champions, held annually in San Angelo, Texas, at the First Community Credit Union Spur Arena.

“He felt good. He was light, he was responsive – he was a willing worker,” noted Bailey shortly after the awards ceremony, at which she received a check for $1,770, a Bob’s Custom Saddle sponsored by Jackson Land & Cattle Company, a Gist Silversmiths buckle sponsored by Knight Haulers, Rios of Mercedes boots from Rios of Mercedes, a commemorative World Finals vest sponsored by Gist Silversmiths, a CR Morrison trophy and a CR Morrison commemorative medallion.

The former NRCHA World and Reserve World Champion had many people to acknowledge. “I really appreciate my husband Paul. He is my best supporter and is always there when I feel like slacking off. I also thank Robert Chown – he works with my personality to make me better,” she said of her trainer. And Bailey had one more very important person to thank – her friend Gail Score. “Gail, who made my shirt, has brain cancer. We got a report this morning that she’s not in good shape. I’m planning to send her a picture of me winning in this shirt.”

Suzon Schaal earned the Non Pro Two Rein Reserve World Championship on Genuine Brown Gal with a 428. The Calgary, Alberta, Canada veterinarian won $1,475, a Gist Silversmiths buckle sponsored by Knight Haulers, custom spurs from Tom Balding Bits & Spurs, Rios of Mercedes boots from Rios of Mercedes, an ESP saddle pad from Classic Equine, a commemorative World Finals vest sponsored by Gist Silversmiths, and a CR Morrison commemorative medallion.

The Fort Dodge Animal Health Celebration of Champions began on January 30 with the Circle Y Ranch Southwest Reined Cow Horse Association Derby, and runs through February 7.
