Former IPRA All-Around Cowboy Joins Pro Team

Ariat International, the leading manufacturer of performance equestrian footwear, apparel and belts, is pleased to announce its sponsorship of professional bull rider Cord McCoy.

McCoy’s accomplishments include winning the International Pro Rodeo Association’s (IPRA) All-Around Cowboy title in 2002 and 2003, but his most memorable ride to date was on PBR World Champion bull, Big Bucks, for 92.25 points at the 2008 Worcester Classic in Worcester, Mass.

“We are thrilled to have Cord join our Pro Team,” said Susan Alcala, Ariat’s vice president of marketing. “He is an exemplary athlete, a talented all-around cowboy, an impressive bull rider and a fan favorite.”

The Oklahoma native, who will appear in Ariat’s newest Bring It campaign, began riding horses before he could walk. By age five, he was riding calves on his family’s ranch, which led to junior rodeos with his three brothers and sister under the guidance of their father, a retired rough stock rider. McCoy continued on to Southwestern Oklahoma State’s rodeo team where he made a name for himself as a bull rider, bareback rider and saddle bronc rider before joining the PBR.

“It’s an honor to partner with Ariat,” said McCoy. “Bull riding is tough on the body, so I am happy to partner with a company that understands and works to address our needs as athletes.”
