A Call for Entries: The 2009 Daniel P. Lenehan Trophy for Overall Media Excellence

Lexington, KY-The United States Equestrian Federation is now accepting applications from the media and at large for the Daniel P. Lenehan Trophy for Overall Media Excellence. The coveted honor will be presented during the 2010 USEF Annual Meeting at the Media Awards Luncheon on Saturday, January 16.

In years past, separate categories of media were contested (writing, photography, Internet, etc.). Beginning this year, all forms of media shall compete side-by-side for the singular award.

The awards were established in 1993 as part of the “Making Strides for Equestrian Sports” marketing campaign. The Overall Excellence Media Award was named after famed hunter judge and equestrian sportsman Daniel Lenehan, who was deemed a “living legend” by the National Horse Show, for which he also served as a judge on several occasions. Lenehan devoted his life to excellence in horsemanship and sportsmanship. He believed strongly that equestrian sport should be covered by the media to open the sport to as many people as possible. Entries may be made by the journalist or media person

Additionally, entries may be submitted by anyone who feels the entry is worthy of this award. An application can be found at www.usef.org/documents/media/MediaAwardsEntry.pdf. Deadline for entries is December 1, 2009. For more information or questions, contact Brian Sosby, Editor – equestrian magazine, at [email protected]
