Competition Heating Up at Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo ProRodeo Tournament

By Susan Kanode for the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

FORT WORTH, Texas (Feb. 6, 2026) โ€” Momentum surged Friday night inside Dickies Arena as Semi-Finals B wrapped up at the Fort Worth Livestock Show & Rodeo ProRodeo Tournament, locking in the final contenders for Championship Saturday.

With championship buckles and major payouts on the line, several hometown favorites and proven veterans delivered performances that set the stage for a dramatic finale.

Berryโ€™s Fort Worth Moment Arrives

Few competitors had more at stake than Leighton Berry of Weatherford, Texas. A four-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier, Berry earned his FWSSR tournament berth by winning the Ellis County Livestock Show & Rodeo in Waxahachie while recovering from hip surgery and a torn labrum.

Berry capitalized on the opportunity Friday night, winning Semi-Finals B bareback riding with an 89-point ride aboard Dark Side from J Bar J Pro Rodeo. The win added $4,000 to his earnings, bringing his Fort Worth total to $8,000, and positioned him as a fan favorite heading into Championship Saturday.

White Eyes Breakthrough Championship

Steer wrestler Landris White of Angleton, Texas, delivered one of the fastest runs of the night, stopping the clock in 3.6 seconds to win Semi-Finals B and earn $4,000.

A Tarleton State University alumnus, White finished 49th in the world standings last year but currently sits 12th. A strong showing Saturday could push him firmly into top-15 territory and closer to his first NFR appearance after earning PRCA Steer Wrestling Rookie of the Year honors in 2022.

Kinsel Chasing Title Number Three

Barrel racing standout Hailey Kinsel of Cotulla, Texas, reminded fans why sheโ€™s a perennial threat in Fort Worth. Riding her legendary mare DM Sissy Hayday, known as Sister, Kinsel was the final competitor to run and clocked a 16.26-second winning time.

Kinsel previously won FWSSR titles in 2019 at Will Rogers Coliseum and again in 2020 after the move to Dickies Arena. She now advances with a chance to claim championship number three.

Championship Saturday Awaits

Championship Saturday will feature eight finalists in each event, advancing from both Semi-Finals A and B. Rodeo action begins Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in Dickies Arena, where athletes will compete for FWSSR championship buckles and significant prize money.
