Paint barrel racers showed up from across the country to claim their share of over $25,000 added to the Paint Barrel Racing Incentive Program Sweepstakes, which took place October 3 during the APHA World Championship Show in Fort Worth, Texas. The total payout for the PBRIP Sweepstakes was more than $43,000.
This year’s event showcased 117 barrel racers—an increase in entries four times over 2019.
“We had an amazing barrel race,” said Karen Utecht, APHA’s director of racing and PBRIP program manager. “From the ground to the quality of horses and competitors, it was great to see everyone come run for this kind of money.”
PBRIP was designed to bridge the gap between barrel racers who run Paints and the American Paint Horse Association by making it easier for barrel racers to be a part of APHA without having to attend traditional breed shows.
PBRIP brings the breed to you at barrel racing events nationwide by adding money to the pot specifically for those enrolled in the program.
