High Performance Working Hunter Championship Goes to Peter Pletcher and NLF Shakespeare’s Rhythm During WEF IX
March 20, 2012The horses and riders of Nordic Lights Farm have had tremendous success during the 2012 Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL, and they are now preparing to return home to Tomball, TX. Professional rider Peter Pletcher capped off the stay by earning the High Performance Working Hunter Championship aboard NLF Shakespeare’s Rhythm during Week IX. Sisters Eirin and Lene Bruheim represented Nordic Lights Farm in the jumper ring, earning excellent results for their family’s farm.
Pletcher and NLF Shakespeare’s Rhythm have been performing very consistently in the competitive division over the last two weeks. During Week IX, the pair claimed the first place prize in the handy and the two over fences classes, and also placed second in the stake. Their efforts in the ring were rewarded with high scores, and at the end of the week they were presented with the High Performance Working Hunter Championship.
“NLF Shakespeare’s Rhythm was really good in the first class Thursday, jumping smoothly and taking the turns nicely,” said Pletcher. “The handy is usually his best class, so he was just amazing both days.” The duo will now return to Texas and prepare to compete at the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show and the Spring Gathering Charity Horse Show, where the USHJA International Hunter Derby will be the main event.
Amateur rider Eirin Bruheim has been competing for Nordic Lights Farm in the jumper ring, showing Cicero 75 and Anyway to good ribbons in the High Amateur-Owner Jumpers. During Week VII, Bruheim and Cicero 75 placed fifth in the division, and then they improved their placing during Week IX with a double clear effort for the fourth place prize.
“The last three weeks have been super,” expressed Eirin. “I rode both my horses in the High Amateur-Owners and had some good rounds with some good placings. I think WEF taught me a lot this year and I was sad to leave. It was a wonderful way to start the year, and it got me ready to compete at the up coming shows.”
Also showing in the jumper ring, junior rider Lene Bruheim has been aboard long time partner NLF Valhall and as her newest mount Jessika. Lene has been riding in the Children’s Jumpers, completing great rounds with both horses.
“WEF was challenging this year, but also really fun, ” commented Lene. “I really love my horses, so they really make showing worth it. I couldn’t ask to have a better string of horses to show and I am so thankful to have had this opportunity!”
After a very successful season at the Winter Equestrian Festival, Nordic Lights Farm is now gearing up for the spring show season, where they will kick off competition at the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show and the Spring Gathering Charity Horse Show.
Nordic Lights Farm is a 70-acre establishment located in Tomball, TX, that was founded in 2007 by the Bruheim family to help further the equestrian goals of 19-year-old Eirin Bruheim and 17-year-old Lene Bruheim. Both girls have worked their way up through the ranks and are currently competing at the top levels in the hunter and jumper divisions aboard their incredible string of horses.
