Jordan McBurney Wins Rookie Professional on Wimpys Little Cee

Jordan McBurney only planned to school Wimpys Little Cee in the National Reining Horse Association Rookie Professional Ancillary class at the 2011 National Reining Breeders Classic. However, the 7-year-old stallion changed that when he entered the show pen. “I wasn’t planning to show him, but he worked so well and was so good that I did,” she said. The pair marked a 143.5, winning $293.

Jordan and her husband Sean have had Wimpys Little Cee since the stallion’s 4-year-old year, but sold the stallion to the Cardan Partnership a year ago. “The owner lives in England, but left him in training with us. We’ve bred him some this year and we’ll breed him a little next year. We’ll just see how he does. Until then we’ll just keep riding and showing him,” she said.

Sean will show Wimpys Little Cee, a former NRBC Intermediate Open finalist, in the NRBC Open Classic Challenge on Friday night.

The McBurneys might have had one of the longest trips to Katy – their trip from Arlington, Washington, took over 50 hours! “We definitely had a long drive down here,” she said.

Blake Plemmons and Wimpys Little Olena won the Limited Open class that was run concurrently, and claimed the Rookie Professional Reserve Championship to earn $230. Wimpys Little Olena is owned by Theresa Drawdy of St. Cloud, Florida.

The NRBC also features a full-slate of National Reining Horse Association-approved classes, which run in the East Arena while the Classic is held in the Coliseum. The National Reining Breeders Classic is the most successful stallion incentive program in reining history. In just fourteen years, the NRBC has grown to include nearly 200 subscribed stallions. Annually, the payout at the National Reining Breeders Classic exceeds $1.4 million. For information on the NRBC, visit the web site at  www.nrbc.com or call 580-759-3939.
