Jan 13 – last day for $5,000 Scholarship Offered to Female NRHyA Members
January 12, 2011Members of the National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA) are the future of the sport of Reining and the equine industry. Leaders at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri have recognized this and have designed a scholarship program to attract dedicated and passionate students.
Stephens will offer an outstanding incoming female NRHyA member a tremendous opportunity to obtain an equestrian-based, liberal arts education with the assistance of a 2011-2012 academic year $5,000 equestrian leadership scholarship that can be reapplied for each year. Since 1926 Stephens has offered students a thorough liberal arts background with strong preparation for careers in the equine world. Stephens students develop effective written and oral skills in communication, appreciate cultural differences, and think critically, all while becoming confident horsewomen.
Each applicant will be asked to fill out the scholarship and admissions applications and return with a letter of reference from a person in the equestrian community. Applicants will be evaluated to choose the best fit for the program. The Equestrian Studies faculty will be looking for an individual with a passion for all things horse. An academic-oriented student who is interested in all phases of personal growth and development will be a superb candidate. Having a desire to explore a profession in the equine industry with a strong work ethic will be beneficial. In addition, the faculty will be looking for someone who is community-minded and interested in service activities. Previous involvement in breed and reining organizations and financial need will also be considered.
For more information and to apply for this outstanding scholarship please call the NRHA Office at 405-946-7400. The deadline to return the application to NRHyA is January 13, 2011. Applications must come through NRHA to be eligible.
