Wright to Sign Copies of Horsenameographies
May 8, 2010Linda Kessler Wright, a local resident from the Luling-Kingsbury area in Texas, will be signing copies of Horsenameographies: Lifes Stories in a Race Horse Name at Hastings Books in San Marcos, Texas, on May 22 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The book contains a collection of life stories captured in a race horse name that answers the question: if you were cheering for yourself as you charged down the homestretch of life, what name would you yell and why? Wright’s submission and accompanying photograph were selected for publication from over eight hundred entries.
Wright captured her life story in the race horse name “ItsMyReality”. In explaining the idea behind the name, Wright invited readers to travel through challenging and sometimes heartbreaking events that have transpired in her life. She dedicated the entry to her three sons Gregg, Bryce and Coitt. Gregg was a 1996 graduate of Luling High School who passed away in 2004. He was a firefighter in the U.S. Air Force. Bryce and Coitt also pursued careers as firefighters and are with the City of Austin Fire Department.
Mary Simon, a contributing editor to Thoroughbred Times, recently noted that Horsenameographies “is truly a book of, by, and for the people. Beautiful in its utter simplicity, it manages to underscore the complexity of human experience on just about every page — being alternately wise, inspirational, somber, humorous, and uplifting. The horse people have written… and they are surely worth reading!”
Horsenameographies is published by Caballo Press of Ann Arbor. The book can be ordered at www.caballopress.com and is available as an e-book at Scubbly.com http://www.scubbly.com/item/7363/ . Select proceeds from every book published by Caballo Press of Ann Arbor are donated to a non-profit organization related to the equine industry. In the case of Horsenameographies, proceeds are being donated to ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption Program and Southern California Thoroughbred Rescue. Current sales of Horsenameographies have resulted in six-hundred dollars being donated to these courageous and inspiring non-profit organizations.
