USTRC Works to Hear the Roper’s Voice

The United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC) is breaking new ground in the roping industry with its Roper’s Voice Surveys and USTRC web site polls that started in April.

“USTRC is the undisputed leader of the team roping industry and in order to remain at the top, we know we need to hear from our member roper,” said USTRC President Kirk Bray. “A total of 85 events are held each year, with more than 20 of those produced by the USTRC staff. Through post-event surveys, USTRC will gain valuable information from ropers regarding their perception of USTRC events and how USTRC can continue to grow and improve.”

To date, three surveys have been conducted regarding recent USTRC team roping events among ropers in Texas, New Mexico and California, with early results indicating the USTRC remains in good stead with its member ropers. The majority of ropers indicate they enjoy participating in USTRC events, with many indicating high levels of satisfaction in cattle provided and in the overall quality of the events. Results also indicate that the economy is still having an effect on if and when a roper will compete, however, most are indicating that roping at the USTRC National Finals of Team Roping in October is still a major goal.

In addition to the surveys, USTRC is conducting on-line polling of team ropers through its web site, USTRC.com. Polls are designed to gauge the prevailing opinions of ropers regarding specific concerns. Polls will be conducted at least twice per month.

“USTRC has instituted a number of changes since January in response to what the member wants and needs to compete,” Bray continued. “USTRC has worked hard to gain the reputation for having the most professionally produced events in the country and is working just as hard to build a reputation in customer service.”
