The NRHA Regional Clinic Series just wrapped up another successful clinic with Casey Deary and Nathan Piper at Still Creek Ranch in Bryan, Texas. Deary and Piper are two up and coming NRHA Professionals in the sport of Reining. The South Central Regional Clinic brought in over $3,500 for the youth. Eleven riders and numerous spectators had the opportunity spend two days learning from two of the best professionals in Reining.

All ages and skills levels participated in the clinic where Deary and Piper outlined the basic Reining maneuvers. Anne Peters traveled from Ft. Meyers, Florida to attend the clinic and learn from the NRHA Professionals.

“Nathan and Casey did everything they could to be sure everyone got the most benefit from the clinic,” said Peters.

The two-day clinic included numerous opportunities for participants to receive one-on-one training. Auditors also had the opportunity to join the riders in the arena for an up close view of the technical Reining maneuvers demonstrated by Deary and Piper. Alison Rowe, an equine attorney from Bryan, Texas has always been a fan of Reining, but used the clinic as an opportunity to learn more about the sport.

“The clinic has motivated me to commit and really get into Reining,” said Rowe. “I am looking for a good reining horse and ready to go for it!”

The two-day clinic covered a variety of Reining maneuvers and gave the participants a chance to fine-tune their skills under the direction of seasoned NRHA Professionals. Deary and Piper broke down each maneuver and explained to the riders how to get the best performance from their horses. One of the greatest benefits of the clinic was having both trainers available to offer their advice.

“I really enjoyed having both trainers and their different viewpoints,” said Peters. “The concepts really came together for me when they were each able to show us their different techniques.”

This is the fifth year NRHA has organized the clinics to help raise funds for the National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA). This was the third clinic of the year, and the series continues to be popular. The Regional Clinic Series is proving to be an important fundraiser for NRHyA, as well as a great opportunity to bring new riders to the sport.
