The $55,000 Commonwealth Grand Prix, CSI 2* will be held Sunday, May 16, and the $55,000 Mary Rena Murphy Grand Prix, CSI 2* sponsored by Audi of Lexington will follow on Saturday, May 22. A $30,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic, CSI 2* will be held on Thursday of each week and are a part of the Hagyard Challenge Series.
The 2010 Hagyard Challenge Series, sponsored by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, consists of five grand prix show jumping competitions. The final Hagyard Challenge Series event will be the $50,000 Hagyard CSI-World Cup Qualifier Lexington Grand Prix held on August 20, during the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show. The $50,000 Leading Rider Bonus Award, presented by Adequan, will be awarded to the rider who accumulates the most points throughout the series.
The first week, the Kentucky Spring Horse Show, is a World Champion Hunter Rider (WCHR) recognized hunter competition. It will also feature the $15,000 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA International Hunter Derby Presented by Dietrich Insurance being held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, in the Main Stadium. Both weeks of the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows will feature qualifying events for the Washington International Horse Show Championships and the North American League Finals.
An important change to the hunter schedule this year is that all the Junior and Children’s Hunter classes will be held on Saturday and Sunday so as not to interfere with school. Hunter exhibitors will be pleased to find that the OTTO Sport footing system has been installed in the Murphy Ring to match the surfaces in the Stonelea Ring and main hunter schooling area.
Based at the famed Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, host of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows offer equestrians a chance to compete at one of the finest facilities in the world. For show jumping, the Main Stadium offers one of the most spectacular and picturesque settings in the country.
In addition to the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows, Kentucky Horse Shows, LLC will be hosting the Kentucky Summer Horse Shows, the Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships Presented by Gotham North, the USEF Junior Hunter National Championship – East Coast, the USEF National Pony Finals, and the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show during the 2010 season.
