The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) announced recently the appointment of the Horse Show Manager and Judges’ Monitor for the World Championship Paint Horse Shows. These two key positions at the World Show work to ensure that the show is run smoothly and fairly for all involved.

Bob Geesaman of Kettering, Ohio, has been named the Horse Show Manager for the two 2010 APHA World Shows. A 40-year veteran of the horse industry, he currently serves as the assistant horse show manager at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress and previously managed the Ohio State Fair for 12 years. He’s also served as a ring steward at the APHA, AQHA and PtHA World Shows.

As Horse Show Manager, he will oversee and direct the horse show class procedures and personnel, oversee arena preparation, communicate with exhibitors and owners as well as working with the Judges’ Monitor to ensure that rules are being followed.

“I enjoy working with new people and helping them to have a great show experience,” said Geesaman.

Billy Steele of Amarillo, Texas, has been named to the position of Judges’ Monitor. A veteran horse trainer and exhibitor, Steele has previously worked for AQHA as director of judges and regional representative. He has judged at the APHA and AQHA World Shows and the All-American Quarter Horse Congress. As Judges’ Monitor he will work closely with the show judges to ensure proper preparation, assignment, act as advisor to the judges, conduct video reviews as needed, and communicate with exhibitors and owners regarding judging concerns.

“APHA is very pleased to have Mr. Geesaman and Mr. Steele acting in these two key roles for the World Championship Paint Horse Show,” said Lex Smurthwaite, Executive Director of APHA. “These two horsemen have the experience, knowledge and judgment to ensure that our World Shows are run smoothly and efficiently.”

The Summer World Show encompasses the Youth division classes along with the reining and cattle classes and takes place June 23-July 3. The Fall World Show hosts the Amateur and Open division classes along with the slot classes and Breeders’ Futurity. The fall show takes place November 4-13. Both shows are held at the Will Rogers Equestrian Complex located in Fort Worth, Texas.
