The United States Equestrian Team Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the “International Young Rider Talent Fund” that will be used to support the United States Equestrian Federation’s High Performance International Young Rider and Developing programs in the Olympic disciplines. An integral part of the long-term High Performance strategy, these programs play a critical role in developing the best possible United States Equestrian Teams for the future. Although this country has many talented young riders that have been successful in national competition, most have not been exposed to, nor have had the opportunity to hone their skills in the international arena as a member of a “team”.

The USET Foundation recognizes the value and importance of providing international competition experience to the United States’ young talent, and is excited to work with donors who share its passion and interest in making sure our rising young stars are provided with these international experiences now and in the future.

“It is so important for this country to make the Young Rider and Developing programs a priority and permanent part of the High Performance program,” said Jane Forbes Clark, USET Foundation President and CEO. “Unfortunately, they have been the first thing to go when funding gets tight. We feel that by establishing a separate fund and actively working with individuals to build this fund over time, we will have been instrumental in truly building for the future, and giving our rising talent the opportunities that are necessary for the United States to continue its leadership among the world’s top equestrian nations now and in the years to come.”

An initial gift will be made by the USET Foundation to the USEF for the 2010 International Show Jumping Young Rider Tour, based on contributions to date. This funding will be used to provide grants to riders selected for the tour, who need and apply for funding.

“As the coach for the United States High Performance Show Jumping Teams, I am committed to putting a plan in place that will allow our teams to win at the highest levels in the sport. A critical part of this plan is providing a program for out talented young riders to ensure the United States’ long-term success internationally.” – George H. Morris, U.S. Show Jumping Chef d’ Equipe and USET Foundation Trustee

The USET Foundation is seeking additional gifts to not only help with this Tour, but to also establish the “International Young Rider Talent Fund” as a viable source of funding and support for these essential International Young Rider and Developing programs. Individuals may make contributions to a specific Olympic discipline or unrestricted.
