Stephanie Stewart and Peppys Dunit 98 Win NRBC Ancillary Rookie Levels 1 and 2 (1)

Stephanie Stewart has owned Peppys Dunit 98 for less than six months and only showed him twice before heading to the National Reining Breeders Classic for the National Reining Horse Association ancillary classes. But the third show must have been the charm as the Lake Jackson, Texas, Non Pro rider marked a 141 to win Rookie Levels 1 and 2 (1) on Wednesday, April 14.
“He was good out there today,” Stephanie said. “We’ve been working since Waco to try to get it together, so it was really amazing to win.”
Under the guidance of Steve Archer, Stephanie and “Peppy” earned $30 in Level 1 and $24 in Level 2.
This isn’t Stephanie’s first win the NRBC though – she won the NRHA ancillary 14-18 Youth Class in 2001. “That was fun, so it’s nice to come back and win this class,” the now 26-year-old said.
By Dun It 1998 and out of Sheas Smart Peppy, Peppy might possibly be a youth horse someday. “That’s why we bought him from Dave Archer,” Stephanie said. “My daughter, Rylie, just turned 2 in March and we’re hoping he will be her horse.”
And never know, maybe Rylie will one day follow in her mother’s footsteps and win an NRBC youth class on Peppy!
Placing second in Level 1 (1) was Wendy Rhoads of Whitesboro, Texas, on This Rose Will Shine, an 8-year-old gelding by Twice As Shiney and out of Cross Over Rosie, with a 140. They earned $24.
In Level 2 (1), there was a tie for second placed. Both Cam (Cynthia) Bearden of Fort Worth, Texas, on High Roller Rooster, and Paul Magistri of Houston on Smart Von Remenic marked a 139.5 and earned $15 each.
The National Reining Breeders Classic, celebrating its tenth anniversary at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, is the most successful stallion incentive program in reining history. In just thirteen years, the NRBC has grown to include upwards of 230 subscribed stallions and in 2009, there were over 2,800 enrolled foals.
