Youth members competed Saturday, March 27, during the National Reined Cow Horse Association Stakes, held at the Idaho Horse Park in Nampa, Idaho. In the Youth Bridle, NRCHA Youth Vice President Walker Pozzi claimed the title, collecting $880.

“She did real well in the rein work,” noted Pozzi of his horse, a 12-year-old named Lady Tom Tucker, owned by his sister Morgan Pozzi. “Our cow work was a little rougher. It wasn’t the best run, but we got through it.”

Pozzi has ridden “Lady” for three years, in that time making the finals at the NRCHA World Championship Show in both the Youth Limited and Youth Bridle. He’s also won multiple Regional titles with the athletic mare.

In the Youth Limited, Jesse Spence rode TC Lena to win $315. TC Lena, owned by Terry Christiansen, is by Lenas Wright On out of Sugar Colonel. The pair marked a 208 in the rein work and a 211 in the cow work. “This horse worked really well today,” the 10-year-old explained. “Thank you Terry for letting me show him.” TC Lena has NRCHA earnings exceeding $30,000.

The NRCHA Youth had a busy day, with the NRCHYA Bat-N-Bucket Race being held after the competition concluded. Over ten entries competed, raising money for the Youth and providing a light-hearted break from the competition.

The NRCHA Stakes concludes Sunday, March 28, with the clean-slate finals.
