“WESTERN SAFE RIDER” Inventor Designs Safety Apparel for Horseback Riders

According to the Sporting Goods Manufacturing Association (SGMA), about 14.7 million Americans ride horses. The popularity of horse riding is evinced by the fact that horses fuel a $25.3 billion business, according to the American Horse Council. While horse riding can be enjoyable, as well as competitive, ensuring rider safety is a crucial factor.

“I’ve designed equestrian apparel that combines style with safety features, which provides peace of mind for riders,” said an inventor from Franklin, Tenn. She believes that the WESTERN SAFE RIDER could promote safety by protecting riders from injury due to falls. It is ideal for use by Western-style riders.

“After riding in the English style most of my life, I switched to the Western style and realized that its apparel didn’t offer much protection,” she explained. “Then my two stepchildren took an interest in Western-style riding. I conceived of my design so that individuals could ride in the Western style more safely.” The inventor has created a prototype.

The original design was submitted to the Nashville office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
