Lights, Camera, BreyerFest!
March 18, 2010Hollywood has long had a love affair with horses and Breyer’s 22nd annual model horse festival, Lights, Camera, BreyerFest!, will celebrate that theme July 23-25, 2010 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky. Each summer, the three day festival and horse fair brings together more than 5,000 people of all ages to celebrate the iconic toy brand’s best-selling model horses with the real horse heroes that inspire them.
Headlining the event is this year’s BreyerFest Celebration Horse All Glory, a World Grand Champion Standardbred Roadster Horse owned by William and Elizabeth Shatner’s Belle Reve Farm. All Glory, a brilliant blood bay, has an impressive array of USEF horse show championship awards, including 12 World Championship wins since 2002. In addition, All Glory has accomplished a feat that no other American Standardbred in history has achieved: he has won World Championships “under saddle” (ridden by Elizabeth) and “to bike” (driven to a racing cart) with Bill on the lines. The Shatners have long been involved in all aspects of the horse world from breeding, training and competing at the highest levels of the sport. They are deeply involved with the Hollywood Charity Horse Show (founded by Bill) which has raised millions of dollars for charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Starlight Children’s Foundation, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and AHEAD With Horses. All Glory will be presented by Elizabeth at Lights, Camera, BreyerFest! Each three-day ticket-holder will receive a collectible, limited edition Breyer model of All Glory.
BreyerFest attracts thousands of visitors and guests from as far away as Germany and Japan due to its casual, family-friendly program of entertainment that blends model horse hobby activities with three days of all-breed equine entertainment at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park. BreyerFest also offers a large trade show, free crafts and activities, free pony rides, an exotic petting zoo, free seminars, dog agility, model horse shows, model horse workshops, a hobby information booth, autograph sessions and plenty of time to meet the equine stars of the exhibitions! Three-day tickets and single day tickets are available and every ticket includes a Breyer model!
Also attending will be two horses honored by Breyer with portrait models. Isadora-Cruce will be coming from Return to Freedom Wild Horse Sanctuary, Lompoc, CA and O’Leary’s Irish Diamond, a leading Irish Draught stallion owned by Kinson Stud of Bigfork, MT. Isadora-Cruce, a rare Medicine Hat brown-and-white overo spotted mare, is descended from one of the purest strains of Colonial Spanish mustangs being conserved in the United States. In the elite world of dressage and jumpers, O’Leary’s Irish Diamond’s renowned pedigree extends from the best line of Registered Irish Draught horses in the world and he has claimed championships in both disciplines.
BreyerFest also offers guests an opportunity to explore the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park including the Hall of Champions which racing legends Cigar and Funny Cide now call home, the new exhibit A Gift from the Desert: The Art, History and Culture of the Arabian Horse at the International Museum of the Horse, and to see the preparations underway for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (Sept. 25-Oct. 10, 2010) of which Breyer is a proud sponsor and the Official Model Horse. BreyerFest will offer a preview of the limited edition models that Breyer will offer exclusively at the 2010 Games.
