Holly Marsh, of Gillette, Wyoming, is the 2009 National Reined Cow Horse Non Pro Hackamore World Champion. She won the title with her 6-year-old gelding, Cat Jump Fever, after earning a 442 score. During the awards ceremony in the First Community Credit Union Spur Arena in San Angelo, Texas, Marsh received a bounty of prizes, including a Bob’s Custom Saddle sponsored by Jackson Land & Cattle Company, a Gist Silversmiths buckle sponsored by Knight Haulers, Rios of Mercedes boots from Rios of Mercedes, a commemorative World Finals vest sponsored by Gist Silversmiths, a CR Morrison trophy and a CR Morrison commemorative medallion.

She also took home a check for $3,398.

            “My horse just felt really good. He’s always that way – I don’t have any complaints,” Marsh noted after her win. “He felt sharp on the cow. I wasn’t scared of the cow, so that was a bonus. He handles whatever is thrown at him.”

            Marsh purchased Cat Jump Fever, by Playboys Buck Fever out of Cowboy Cat Jumps, from Mike Miller as a yearling. “I started him and have shown him all along. I told Mike and his wife Tara that they sold me the best one!” she said.

            Karla Rogers earned the Non Pro Hackamore Reserve title on BJ Chula Mula, by Chula Dual out of BJ Tari, with a 436.5. She won $2,831, a Gist Silversmiths buckle sponsored by Knight Haulers, custom spurs from Tom Balding Bits & Spurs, Rios of Mercedes boots from Rios of Mercedes, an ESP saddle pad from Classic Equine, a commemorative World Finals vest sponsored by Gist Silversmiths, and a CR Morrison commemorative medallion.

The NRCHA World Championship Show Presented by John Deere is part of the NRCHA Fort Dodge Animal Health Celebration of Champions, which is held annually in San Angelo, Texas. The Celebration of Champions also hosts the NRCHA World’s Greatest Horseman and the Circle Y Ranch Southwest Reined Cow Horse Association Derby.
