San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Honors Hall of Fame Inductees

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo recognized their 2009 Hall of Fame inductees, as well as outstanding committeemen and volunteers. The 2009 Hall of Fame Inductions were held on January 14 in the new, climate controlled Exposition Center located on the Stock Show and Rodeo grounds.

The Four inductees recognized during the ceremony are as follows: 

Bobby & Georgette Hawkins

Bobby Hawkins became a life member in 1982 (#2531). He served as Director from 1982-2005. In 2005 he became a Director Emeritus. Hawkins served on the Gala and Horse Show Committees.

Georgette Hawkins was life member # 1795. She started her rodeo volunteering in 1977. Hawkins served as a Director from 1982-2005 and served as a Director Emeritus from 2005 until her passing in 2009.  She along with her husband, Bobby, previously owned D&D Farm and Ranch in Seguin. They both donated their time and resources generously to the Horse Show and Livestock departments.

 Bobby and Georgette were also very instrumental in starting the Gala Committee.

Dan Puckett

Life Member # 1647, received his life membership in 1974. He was appointed as a Director in 1984 and became a Director Emeritus in 2005. His participation with the Trail rides started in 1955 giving him 55 years of involvement with the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.  Puckett served as chairman of the Souvenir Committee for 19 years, from 1984-2001; from 2001-2003 the committee was co-chaired by Puckett and his wife, Jerri.   Puckett has chaired Bexar County Community Arenas Board and is currently serving as a member of the board.

Eloise Fisher-Creek

Eloise Fisher Creek is the second woman to be inducted into the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Hall of Fame. Creek’s Life Member number is 0669-R; the R represents the membership number as being reissued, as it once was her husband’s, King Fisher. Creek was a personal friend of the Freemans’ and helped bring a variety of horse shows to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. She became a Director in 1970 and a Director Emeritus in 1991. Creek currently serves on two committees; the Frontier Club Committee and the Hall of Fame Committee.

Outstanding committeemen and volunteers from each of the 38 committees were also honored during the ceremony.

The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo is a volunteer organization that emphasizes agriculture and education to support the youth of Texas.  It has a rich tradition and history of stewardship to the community. With a clear vision of the future, a successful past and continual dedication from nearly 5,000 volunteers, the organization will continue to be a pillar of strength and support to the city of San Antonio and the youth of Texas.
