Cavallo Contribution Captures the Win Competitive Rider Uses Simple Hoof Boots

The BC Competitive Trail Rider’s Association held its Annual Awards ceremony on October 23, 2009. Nicole Vaugeois of Nanaimo won the Top BC Lightweight rider with her unregistered Quarter Horse El Nino.

Competitive trail riding is a long distance riding sport where horse and rider teams navigate over a variety of terrains in a set period of time. The sport is all about the horses’ fitness, conditioning and overall health.

Last year, BCCTRA approved the use of hoof boots for horses during competition. “This rule change has allowed riders more flexibility in their hoof care options during competition” states Vaugeois. It is not uncommon now to see horse and rider teams using Cavallo boots on the rides for primary hoof care or as a back up to a pulled shoe.
