SHSU Horse Judging Team Shines At Congress!

The SHSU Horse Judging Team just returned from the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio. The show is the largest single breed horse show in the world as well as the third largest convention in the United States next to the Republican and Democratic Conventions that take place each year. The team competed on Wednesday against 21 senior college teams from all over the United States. They had a tremendous day ending up third team overall. They were sixth in halter, third in performance, and sixth in reasons. Many of the students were in the top ten in each division helping to secure the third place position. Sam Houston beat Texas Tech and West Texas A&M the only other Texas schools there. They also beat 12 land grant universities. In four weeks the team will compete in Oklahoma City at the American Quarter Horse Association World Show for the National Champion title. The team members include: Samantha Brooks, Jessica Hawley, Ashley Spakes, Lacee Keller, Kari Carroll, Nicci Ahart.
