USHJA Level II Training Sessions

September 16, 2009 Off By Roberta Johnston

The Emerging Athletes Program is well underway with three of its five Level II Training sessions complete. The Level II sessions are held over a two-day period and include a clinic-like format with top riders and trainers from around the country and focus on horsemanship skills that extend beyond the saddle. At each session, guest barn managers and veterinarians give presentations on health care and other aspects related to the general management of horses.

The young athletes are being evaluated not only on their ability to ride, but their general knowledge and desire to learn. The top twelve riders in the nation will be invited to ride in the third and final training session where the top two riders will be awarded a grant for one month of advanced training.

Upcoming Level II Training Sessions:
Region 4 – Zones 7 and 8
September 26-27 at McCutcheon Stables in Aubrey, Texas
Clinician: Julie Winkel
Barn Manager: Mandy McCutcheon
