STFR Supports TV Industry’s ‘I Participate’ Volunteer Program

STFR SUPPORTS TV INDUSTRY’S ‘I PARTICIPATE’ VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Austin, Texas, September 23, 2009 – The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo/Rodeo Austin is pleased to support the TV Industry’s week long program October 19th to the 25th spotlighting volunteerism entitled “iPARTICIPATE”. The endeavor is organized by the Entertainment Industry Foundation and will include more than 60 national TV programs that plan to promote volunteerism through scripted programming, segments and PSAs with inspirational messages and storylines about volunteerism. ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and many cable networks will be participating in the effort and several popular shows plan to integrate volunteering into their plot including Desperate Housewives, CSI: NY, Parks and Recreation and others. The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo is featured on the initiative’s website, iParticipateUSA.org, which is designed to make it easier for Americans to find volunteer opportunities in their local communities.

The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo is thrilled that the TV industry will be shedding light on the importance of volunteerism. The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo is a non-profit charity organization who is proud to have the help of nearly 1,500 volunteers who dedicate countless hours to furthering the mission Promoting Youth Education – Preserving Western Heritage. Volunteers complete a wide variety of organizational operations, each task vital to the success of the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo, raising $1.5 million for the youth of Texas in scholarships, auction proceeds and other forms of giving. Currently, the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo is conducting its annual volunteer membership drive with an application deadline of November 1, 2009. Volunteers are needed for a wide variety of duties ranging from organizing the Livestock Show to promoting the Rodeo Austin brand to the community to taking tickets during the rodeo.
