MORAB HORSE ASSOCIATIONS AND REGISTRIES MERGE
September 3, 2009MORAB HORSE ASSOCIATIONS AND REGISTRIES MERGE
LEXINGTON, KY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2009: The Morab Horse Association & Register, Inc. (MHA) and the Purebred Morab Horse Association (PMHA) are proud to announce the joining of two Morab organizations and registries into one strong corporation for the promotion and support of the Morab. This long-awaited unification signals a strong commitment to securing the future of the Morab breed.
The Purebred Morab Horse Association now holds the combined registries including over 1,200 purebred Morab horses from the United States and abroad. Currently it owns databases from the North American Horse Registry (WI), the Hearst Memorial Horse Registry (CA), portions of the Morab Registry of America (CA), and now the Morab Horse Registry (IL). PMHA’s older NAMHA registry absorbed MHA’s Appendix Morabs (part bred Morabs) and now numbers approximately 200.
The PMHA purebred registry accepts only Morabs proven through DNA to be from pure Morgan and Arabian bloodlines. The purebred registry provides many valuable promotional opportunities for breeders of Morab, Morgan, and/or Arabian breeding .
The earlier NAMHA registry was inherited from the original California based organization and is home to many foundation Morabs. While they were believed to be Morgan/Arabian, they are not included in the PMHA Registry, as their pedigrees miss an element of bloodline proof. They were registered by the Morab Horse Registry of America and carried through to NAMHA. These horses carried the early Morab breed through the years to its
present status and carry on a proud and honorable history. Breeding within the NAMHA registry is not supported as pure Morabs are the goal; however, existing NAMHA registered horses are provided many of the same benefits as are the purebred Morabs, including a place in the Awards Program and classes at local and regional shows.
The mix of PMHA’s strong business sense and MHA’s emphasis on customer service brings forward a responsive and friendly organization that will provide high quality benefits to the members and great promotion for the Morab breed.
PMHA offers excellent promotional opportunities for breeders through group advertising with distribution throughout the United States at horse expos, exhibitions, mailings, newsletters, clinics, website, and more. The Morab National Championship Show (Nationals) is held in October each year at the fabulous Kentucky Horse Park and includes a National Morab Futurity.
