August 5, 2009EquestrianSingles.com celebrates its 8th Anniversary!
More Sponsorships, Success Stories, and Community Accolades
(Austin, Texas) August 3, 2009: EquestrianSingles.com began as an idea to connect people with a common love for horses, and instantly developed into a one of a kind, close knit community known word wide. After 8 years, the site remains a leader in the equestrian industry, garnering over 1.6 million hits a day, 11 million page views and 300,000+ visitors a month
Founded in 2001, EquestrianSingles.com has always been recognized as more than matchmaking. In addition to thousands of success stories and marriages, EquestrianSingles.com message board became an emergency communication center to help to coordinate relief and rescue operations around the country. The site also sponsors many endeavors such as the Mustang Heritage Foundation and Extreme Mustang Makeovers, as well as Lope Texas which rehabilitates race horses from Texas race tracks.
The owners of EquestrianSingles.com are two extraordinary women with impressive backgrounds in music and television. Jan Mirkin and Marcia Zwilling’s mutual love of horses brought them together at a local stable, where they instantly became friends and bought their first horses just days apart. The following year they launched EquestrianSingles.com which remains one of their proudest accomplishments.
“Jan and I have both been successful in our careers, but creating a community for the equestrian industry which has changed so many people’s lives is the best feeling yet,” says Marcia Zwilling, President/Founder. Jan Mirkin, CEO/Founder, agrees. “In addition to thousands of success stories and marriages, our community has organized relief efforts, distributing thousands of bales of hay to those affected by devastating hurricanes like Katrina. We have also assisted Texas Equusearch on horseback to locate missing persons around the country. The sense of community has exceeded our expectations.”
Zwilling believes it is the members that make the site successful. “This type of online community is unprecedented,” says Zwilling. “They participate as trainers in the Mustang Makeovers, organize parties, trail rides, and benefits to help those in need. This year members created a cookbook of favorite recipes with all proceeds to benefit other members facing exorbitant medical bills.”
EquestrianSingles.com was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show when Zwilling appeared as a guest and introduced the online community of horse lovers to audiences world-wide. Also featured in numerous prestigious publications such as Entrepreneur Magazine and The Austin Business Journal, Cowboys and Indians, Horse Illustrated and More Magazine, EquestrianSingles.com continues to grow at the rate of 1000 + new members per month.
In 2003, Mirkin and Zwilling developed their second equestrian community, EquestrianFriends.com. Mirkin says, ” We saw the need for a site that would appeal to all horse enthusiasts, not just singles.” In the past year, they also purchased CountryWesternSingles.com and EquestrianMatch.com adding those databases to the EquestrianSingles.com family under the umbrella of the Equestrian-Network.com.
